“Now, where to start… I was desperately looking for a personal trainer after struggling with my weight and fitness since being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome creates a hormonal imbalance and issues with metabolism therefore weight gain becomes an issue (not to mention that it makes losing the weight so much harder).
For years I’ve been bullied for my weight/appearance from people who have no knowledge on the illness and how it works. After a recent GP appointment, they stressed how important it was to improve my weight and overall well-being to ensure PCOS doesn’t continue to cause problems later on in life, this gave me the kick start that I never knew I needed.
I was recommended Sam by another PT who wasn’t able to fit me in and THANK GOD they did!! From the get go Sam has been professional, encouraging, funny, sympathetic knowledgeable…. the list is endless.
Sam has been so much more than a Personal Trainer, she has been a friend, someone who encourages me every day, supports me and is always at the other end of the phone on days we don’t have sessions. “Having past my 75th birthday, I thought it about time I made an effort to try and slow down the inevitable muscle deterioration that eventually gets us all.
I sought a consultation with SLB to see if there was anything that could be done.
Samantha and I had a good long chat about what might be possible, and what the outcomes might be. I was anxious not to get involved in a commercial gym and hoped I could do some work in my garage.
By following Samantha’s directions, I cannot begin to explain the enormous improvements that have come about. The muscle deterioration that I accepted as normal, has been reversed – activities like sit ups, press ups and pull-ups were but a 50-year distant memory.
Not anymore.
It has taken a few weeks of working through some very structured programmes and routines but the results are phenomenal.
I am better able to do my 50ml cycle rides, my balance has improved beyond all measure, I can take on hillwalking ascents and descents like I could many, many years ago and my whole energy levels have increased.
